About Us
Our mission at Make A Stand 4 Autism is to unlock potential in autism through advocacy, research and education. We believe every child with autism deserves to maximize their potential and communication is a human right.
Through our advocacy we aim to shift the current narrative to one that supports and expedites policy and research aiming to improve quality of life for those with profound autism. We provide both upstream and downstream education through professionals and parent advocacy that helps shape policy and expedites communication and consensus.
One of our key tenets is to catalyze a new standard of care for those with autism, with an emphasis on profound autism. All too often, these children receive a lone prescription of behavioral therapy, while many of the over-represented, and possibly contributing, medical conditions in autism go overlooked or explained away by their behavioral diagnosis. That short-sided approach has led us to look past many of the amenable factors that could be mediating those very behaviors. The time has come to look beyond the field of psychology, and advance the biology.
We are years, if not decades, overdue for significant advances in autism. We cannot allow the lives of these voiceless children to slip through the cracks any longer. The time to act is now.
Make A Stand 4 Autism.
